Wednesday Morning--Uncensored!
Went to the bank this morning. Needed to update some records, etc.
The radio was on inside the bank. The song, "Forget You" by Cee Lo Green came on. I like this song, especially the Motown style. I don´t listen to it very often though here in Spain because the uncensored version is played here.
This original version features super strong lanuage: "F--- you!" This phrase is repeated numerous times in the chorus alone, so, lots of times before the song is over.
Of course, even if the Spaniards understand the phrase, it doesn´t have the same meaning for them as it does for a native English speaker, especially one from a conservative Southern U.S. culture.
So, as we were sitting quietly listening to the tap-tap of the computer keys, in the background we could also hear, "F--- you! F--- you!"
Pleasant thoughts first thing in the morning.
Pleasant thoughts first thing in the morning.
Needless to say, it was another cultural experience for the books.
Now if I can just get those lyrics out of my head!
